What Doctrinal Beliefs do we practice?

God is the Creator, eternal and perfect, and the Ruler of all existence. He exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. Please refer to these verses: Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2; Corinthians 13:14 NIV

What are our views on Salvation?

Salvation is a free gift from God to us. We could never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works; only by trusting in Jesus Christ by faith as God’s offer of forgiveness can we be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life is ours through faith and faith alone! Please refer to these verses: Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8, 9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1

What are our views on the Bible?

The Bible is God’s word to us. It was written by human authors, but under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth and direction for living. Because it is inspired by God, it is the foundation for all truth.

What is our views on Baptism?

Baptism by immersion symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and is our public declaration that we have accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. Baptism does not save us, but is our testimony to the world that we have already been saved. And while baptism is not required for salvation, it is a biblical command and demonstrates our love and obedience to Christ. Please refer to these verses: Colossians 2:12; Acts 2:41; Ephesians 2: 8-9; Matthew 28:19-20 NIV

J.R. and Beverly Deetz

J.R. and Beverly Deetz have served as a pastoral couple since 1993. From Deland to Fort Walton Beach, Pastor J.R. and “Bev” have loved serving God in the local church. Their love of people and Christian music, along with their ability to play several instruments and sing, has attracted many others who share the same love of music. From praise teams to duets, trios, quartets, and a cappella groups, to choirs of sixty and more, to singing Christmas trees of 120 people, the J.R. and Bev have always had a desire to see people “plugged in” to ministry. And there is nothing J.R. enjoys more than being with and loving the people and preparing sermons for the church.

Pastor Deetz did his college studies at Valencia Community College in Orlando, the University of Central Florida, and received his Bachelor’s degree from Warner University in Lake Wales, Florida. He did his graduate studies at Liberty University and Theological Seminary in Virginia.

For fourteen years, Pastor Deetz was an ordained minister with the Church of the Nazarene, and for an additional thirteen years, he has been an ordained minister with Sherwood Ministries, Inc. where he has also served as CEO.

J.R. and Bev have three children and two grandsons. Chad, the oldest, is married (Sarah) and has two sons, Charlie and Jack. Chad and his family live in Spartanburg, SC, where he is a minister on staff at Bethel United Methodist Church. J.R. and Bev’s daughter, Faith and son David, live at home.

Missions

HELPING HANDS IN MOTION

https://helpinghandsinmotion.org/

Helping Hands In Motion is a support ministry that was born out of a burning desire to empower missionaries. We have found that national and international missionaries need resources to effectively minister where God has called them. We’ve discovered the fact that many missionaries spend numerous hours trying to get resources and supplies, which prohibit them from actually doing ministry. By partnering with national pastors and leaders, lives are being transformed and souls are coming to know Jesus!

Can We Pray for you

Prayer is a powerful tool. We would love the opportunity to lift you and your needs up in prayer. If you have a need or request you’d like our team to pray over please submit it using the form below.

We ask that when submitting your requests, you keep some things in mind:

  • Prayer requests should only be submitted for those individuals and situations about which you have accurate personal knowledge. No mass email or website listings are to be submitted.
  • Please remember that the Alive at New Life PrayerNet is not a bulletin board or a flyer to be used for contacting people or to solicit funds or goods. In keeping with this policy, all such submissions will not be placed on the Internet.

In the book of James, the author, who identifies himself as “a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ” (James 1:1), provides profound insights into the nature of prayer and our relationship with God. James addresses the crucial aspect of asking God to meet our needs, emphasizing the importance of faith-filled requests rather than demanding our own way.

This teaches us that the effectiveness of our prayers is closely tied to our motives and intentions. God desires to bless us and meet our needs, but He also wants our requests to reflect a heart that seeks His glory and the well-being of others. As we pray, we should examine our motives, align our desires with God’s will, and approach Him with faith and humility. This approach to prayer can lead to a more fulfilling and transformative relationship with God, where our requests become a means of participating in His work rather than merely seeking personal gain.

Family Focused Christianity

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” – 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Protect

The Spiritual Growth of Your Family

One of our responsibilities includes nurturing the faith of our spouses and our children. We should be raising our children in a godly manner, teaching them about God’s love and His Word, as well as understanding and encouraging our spouses to seek God in all things. To read the word and pray for His wisdom in all things. We, as families, are entrusted with guiding them towards a relationship with Jesus. When we talk about faith, we also encourage them to see the beauty of living a life aligned with God’s purpose. It’s our role to model a life of prayer, service, and learning, showing them how to navigate their own faith journeys.

This sacred responsibility extends to creating a home environment where faith can flourish naturally. Daily devotions, regular church attendance, and open discussions about biblical principles become the foundation upon which family faith is built. We must be intentional about addressing questions and doubts with patience and wisdom, recognizing that each family member’s spiritual journey is unique. Scripture reminds us in Deuteronomy 6:6-7 that God’s commandments “shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” In this way, faith becomes woven into the very fabric of family life, not isolated to Sunday mornings but present in everyday moments and decisions. As we demonstrate consistency in our own walk with Christ, we provide our loved ones with a living testimony of God’s transformative power and unwavering love.

Who is Jesus?

We believe Jesus is who He said He is.  Jesus is true God and true man in one person. He is the Son of God who was crucified and raised from the dead for the salvation of all who trust in Him. He is part of the Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. We believe Jesus was and is the Word.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. … And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:1–5, 14 (ESV)
