What are the church’s views on Salvation?

Salvation is a free gift from God to us. We could never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works; only by trusting in Jesus Christ by faith as God’s offer of forgiveness can we be saved from sin’s penalty. The Bible is God’s word to us. It was written by human authors, but under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth and direction for living. Because it is inspired by God, it is the foundation for all truth.

Baptism by immersion symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and is our public declaration that we have accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. Baptism does not save us, but is our testimony to the world that we have already been saved. And while baptism is not required for salvation, it is a biblical command and demonstrates our love and obedience to Christ.
